Tim is a pleasure to work with and a great asset to the Waterstop Solutions NSW team.

In recent months Tim has taken on a more senior position within the team of technicians. Tim is particularly skilled at concrete spalling repair and PU (Polyurethane) leak-sealing injection works and has begun mentoring the newer team members and passing on his knowledge.

He is an enthusiastic and diligent team member who is always willing to go the extra mile for our clients – a continuous demonstration of his passionate dedication.

10 Questions for Tim

1. What inspired you to join the Waterstop Solutions team?

I wanted to be at a company where I could be proud of the work I do. I also appreciate the stability of the job and the culture of the business. I am happy to be a part of a company that provides a great work environment with a culture that is connecting us as a team.

2. What three words describe Waterstop Solutions?

Inspiring, passionate, consistent.

3. What does a typical day look like for you?

I am up and out of bed by 6am, sometimes earlier if the job is further away from my house. I typically try to arrive 10-15 minutes before we are due to start at 7am. If it is a new job we are starting I will take approximately 15-20 photos of the job. We then begin to unpack our gear, speak to the client about what we plan to achieve for the day and answer any questions they have, lay down our protective sheets in the work area and then begin our work.

We will typically work through to 12pm and then take 30 minutes for lunch. Then work resumes until approximately 2:30-2:45. We then do a site clean to ensure we minimise any dust and mess left overnight, pack away our equipment and then take some more photos to show our progress for the day. Finally, we’ll have a quick catch-up with the client to keep them updated on how the work has progressed. We will then call our supervisor(s) to run them through how the day went and if there are any additional materials we will need. After all this is done, I am in the car on my way home.

4. What aspect of your role do you enjoy the most?

I really enjoy doing liquid membrane and injection works. I feel like these applications are what I am best at. Of course, I do enjoy other types of work we do, however PU (Polyurethane) injection is my favourite.

5. What are the most common building defects/issues you see?

Concrete spalling, defective/missing cavity flashing in residential brickwork and waterproofing membrane defects on balconies and courtyards.

6. What are your hopes for our industry?

My hopes are that the industry continues to expand. I have noticed the large increase in work we have currently and that gives me confidence that what we are doing is making a difference. I really enjoy solving water leak problems for the clients and hope that more apprentices and school leavers consider a career in remedial waterproofing as it is extremely rewarding.

7. Your favourite, most challenging project & why?

I did a sheet membrane torch on application job at Lane Cove. I had only just been taught how to install the system and the job had a lot of areas requiring detailing work. It was very difficult at times, but I managed to get the job done. It was a huge confidence booster for me.

8. What makes you happy?

I really enjoy travelling with friends, watching my favourite artists live at concerts and gigs, and playing board games at home with my housemates.

9.  Tell us something about you that people may not know

I really enjoy puzzles and I can solve a Rubik’s cube in under 6 minutes.

10. What are your favourite things to do outside work?

I enjoy hanging out with friends on the weekends, going out for dinners, skating and going to music festivals.
